There is never a great time to move, but there are certainly inconvenient times to pack up your entire life and relocate. Most people would prefer not to spend Valentine’s Day moving, but if you find yourself stuck doing just that on the most romantic day of the year, don’t worry! You can still have a romantic evening with your significant other in spite of the boxes, the stress and the mess. Here are some creative ideas on how to enjoy Valentine’s Day while in the midst of a move.
1. Romantic notes
Leaving sweet and romantic love notes in boxes or around your new home is an easy way to let your partner know you’re thinking about them on Valentine’s Day. You can express your feelings for them even as you both unpack boxes and begin settling into your new home.
Giving your loved one a massage is always a nice gesture, and it will be even more appreciated after a stressful day of moving and unpacking boxes.
3. Music and wine
Break out a bottle of wine and turn on your favorite tunes as you unpack. Unpacking is often seen as tedious, but why not make it fun? Drink and dance a little while you decorate your new home together.
4. Bubble bath
Do you love your new master bath? Walk away from the boxes and break in your new tub with some bubbles, candles and champagne. This is a great romantic gesture, and it will serve as a much-needed respite from the stress of moving.
5. Scavenger hunt
Your home is already a mess, so why not use that to your advantage? Hide clues for your valentine in and around boxes, cabinets and furniture. Have them go on a scavenger hunt to find whatever special gift you’ve decided to get them.
6. Fireside chat
Does your new home have a fireplace? Light a fire and just relax. Take some time to chat with your loved one about the future you’ll share in your new home.
7. Dine local
Need to get away from the boxes and mess? Go and explore your new neighborhood by eating a romantic dinner at a nearby restaurant.
Moving on Valentine’s Day is certainly not ideal. But don’t let the chaos of the day prevent you from showing your partner how much they mean to you and enjoying this romantic holiday together.
